The Gravel Pike Inn

Decided to check out a new bar. The Gravel Pike Inn. It was recommended by the karaoke guy at another bar, plus he said it was his bar. Supposedly it was bigger and had a bigger younger crowd. Hmmm, sounded almost too good. He said they had karaoke at his bar on Saturdays but he was running the karaoke at this other bar as well...wouldn't you want to be at your own bar? That was a little suspicious.

Another thing that was kind of weird was the location of the place. Pretty much in the middle of no where. Looked like not much traffic comes by either. From the outside the bar did look nicer, even had a separate section for a restaurant, an arcade, some pool tables, and a medieval suit of armor...The bartender had a foot and a half long red beard hanging from his chin and looked like he was 28 years old...oh dear, what have i gotten myself into.

i would never trek to a new place by myself so i dragged joel and brent along. The place was pretty much empty, maybe 8 people when we arrived but it was only 9:10 pm so we were probably just a little early. The bar area was pretty much decorated with everything that had to do with motorcycles. From gas tanks cut in half and mounted on the walls to helmets and a bunch of street signs and Harley junx.

The guy running the karaoke that night didn't show up until 10pm. They weren't kidding when they said there was a younger crowd, a boy that looked like he was 12 was there. He was the first person to sing too! He did Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N' Roses...later he did two Metallica songs. This kid was so metal. He wasn't that bad at singing either. Had a kind of mop for a haircut and a red sweat shirt.

There were a bunch of characters at the bar. Included this one very heavy set guy that looked like Hagrid from Harry Potter but with black and grey hair...he would yell,"I WANT TO ROCK!" every now and then through out the night. He was probably 45 years old, wonder what he does for a living. Pretty much everyone in the bar was hardcore metal fans, my plan to sing "Boom, Boom" by the Vengaboys didn't seem like a good idea after awhile. Plus i need a few drinks before i have the kahunas to sing, plus i just sound better...or at least i think i sound better...

Almost got joel to sing a song but he got tired and no longer had the will to rock out on the microphone. brent seemed to enjoy his gravel buger, mozzarella sticks, and cajun hot buffalo wings. They wings weren't that hot but they were pretty tasty. Nothing better than some good wings at a bar. i was thinking about taking pictures but somewhat felt a little awkward walking around taking photos, plus i valued my life at the time. Not sure when the next time i'll be at the Gravel Pitt, might be able to get some to go after the first week of March. Next time i'll wear my leather jacket to blend in a little more...

Soooo - did you end up singing? Was there a prize for the best singer?
