I'm a Little Tea Pot...

Today we decided to do a little site seeing. The town we could be going to is Vung Tau. Some fancy town on the ocean. i think it was about a three hour drive? i forget. When we go to the town my mom wanted to stop at one of her friends houses. Her friend is the choir director for her church in PA but his sister-in-law looks runs the furniture business which is the first floor of the house.
After looking around this closet caught my eye. i don't care what you think i like it. With the crazy white action and sliding doors. All the other closets were boring wood and opened up with hinged doors. But i had no way of getting something this big to Chau Doc. i don't even know the next time i'll be in vietnam to use this thing.
For some reason my mom is holding bananas in this picture. i have no idea why.
After visiting the furniture shop we headed to get a tour of the President's Summer House. The president would use this crib back before Vietnam was united and turned communist. While walking around the palace i found a secret corridor! It was behind one of the display cases filled with China that was found in a ship that had sunk a couple hundred years ago...
My awesome secret passage led me to a bathroom...a nasty bathroom. Ugh.
Here is the entrance to the crappy bathroom...
All the other asian tourists were getting their picture on the cannon so i decided i would too!
Look at this bad boy! i need to get one of these for my house!
Fire!
Sometimes i wonder where i get my silliness...
After touring the summer get-away palace we went to get some sea food. i wasn't even hungry but my mom ordered a ton of food anyway.
On our way back to Saigon we stopped by this fancy tableware outlet called Minh Long. You should see the tea sets in this place. My dad said he wasn't allowed to take pictures but he snuck a few in and i got some video of the crazy merchandise.
Here are one of the tea sets. This is one of the more affordable once with little color. The other sets with blue and red go way up in price and have gold coats on them.
Wouldn't be a trip to Minh Long without a silly picture!
For dinner we went to our favorite 'food court' with the crazy kitchens and waiters running all over the place. i ordered bun cha gio. With some extra stuff such as beef and grilled pork.
i forget what this drink is called or what is in it...blue martini is my best guess but it looks much better tasting than what it actually tastes like. i had trouble putting it down it was so gross. But at least i could taste the alcohol.
My parents ordered a feast for 5. They finished most of it but plenty of fried rice left over.
Woot! Cheri, Marie, Steve, and the kids come in tomorrow!
