Basque Yourself

On our way to Elko we took some windy roads which is always nice rather than straight boring highighways. We saw some crazy burned trees on the mountains. Not sure when the fire occurred but it sure smelled like burned wood.
My dad found some ranch on the internet that is owned by a scottish family. Apparently they are one of the oldest ranchers along the Lincoln Highway. On the ranch there is also a log cabin that dates back to the early 1900s. Of coruse to get to this ranch you have to take a dirt road. Not very fun if your bike belongs on asphalt.
Here we have the entrance to the ranch.
Babo didn't really care for the dirt road but he was excited to see another Historic Lincoln Highway sign.
Here is the log cabin that is apparently over 100 years old or something. While looking around the cabin i found a satellite dish for the Dish Network....did not know they had that back then.
We were going to spend the night in the cabin but there was only one bedroom with a one bed so it would have been kind of tight so we passed. Babo on the other hand was all for it.
The weird thing about the ranch was that there was no one there. They must have all been 'ranching' or something but my dad was determined to talk to someone living at the ranch because they had a direct connection to the lincoln highway. Whatever floats your boat i guess.

Later we found ourselves on route 80 and we passed the Bonneville Salt Flats. It was tempting to just drive off the road and race acrossed the flats
When we finally arrived to Elko, Nevada i tok it upon myself to find a place o eat. i did a little google search and it turned out finding a place for dinner was pretty easy because there was only one restaurant that had reviews which were pretty good. The place was called the Star Hotel Family Basque Food Family Style. Sounded like a good deal.
This place was old, like 1910 old. Apparenelty a lot of history in this place. i was pretty sore from a long day of riding (about 340 miles) and decided to try their "picon punch" thining it was some girly foo foo drink that i could down in a second. To my surprise it wasn't. This was probably one of the strongest drinks i've ever had. It wasn't even that good and i was sure that the bartender messed up the drink...so i ordered a second one.
Each of us ordered a dish. i got the ribeye, my dad had the salmon, and my uncle ordered the pork chops. The amount of food this place gives you is crazy. There are like a million sides that come with the meal including a mound of fries, tons of beans, green beans, and some not so good spaghetti.
i had finally met my match on this trip. Of course i was able ot finish my meal but i could not eat the sides nor my uncle's pork chop. i was so full and no way i could eat anymore, until i heard they had cheese cake. There is always room for a slice of cheese cake (my favorite).
i was hurting after dinner. Going to Reno in the morning!
