Super Long Day...

Took us awhile to leave uncle floyd's. He said he planned to leave by 10am but i don't think we were on our way until 11am. i woke up a little later than everyone else so i missed breakfast. Didn't want to hop on the bike on an empty stomach so i drank a Corona and ate a the last slice of ground cherry pie, breakfast of champions right there.

Originally, uncle floyd and my dad planned on biking to Cedar Rapids, Iowa but that was pretty good hike so they decided to pick a closer town, Fulton, IL. uncle floyd decided to bring his trailer for his bike which is nice because its pretty massive and easy to pack.

We were on the road for a little over an hour before stopping to grab some lunch. We decided to hit up Red Robin since none of us have ever been there.

i ordered the Whiskey River BBQ Burger. i would describe it as a heart attack between two buns. The patty was pretty good but i could have done without the crazy fried onions.
Ever watch that motorcycle insurance commercial where these gremlin things get a magnifying glass and head up the asphalt so that the bike tips over? i thought that couldn't happen but sure enough when i came out of Red Robin to put my gear on uncle floyd's kick stand on his bike was about a centimeter in the ground. If it was any hotter his bike would have tipped over. Not that it would matter because his gold wing has tip over bars which prevent it from taking on any serious damage.
Turns out there are a million little "Lincoln" signs on the Lincoln Highway. i thought it would be fun if we made a drinking game out of it....drink a beer for every sign we see. i ghess that wouldn't really work since i've seen 30 since the beginning of the trip and after 5 beers i'm in no shape to be on a motorcycle.
Our first day on the road with the three of us and it was hot... really hot, like 90 degrees hot. The only thing worse than riding in hot weather is riding in hot weather with traffic. i thought i was going to pass out since my only relief from the heat was when we were moving which we weren't.

We were on the road forever thanks to the traffic coming out of Indiana. We didn't find our hotel until 9pm. We had a little bit of trouble finding the hotel because uncle floyd's GPS (Jill) gave us the wrong directions. Jill took us to a nursing home. One of the nurses said they had extra rooms but didn't think we would want them. :P
After we checked into the Comfort Suites, we then found out that all restuarants close at 9:30pm. We had 30 minutes to find a place to eat. The closest places were a chinese restaurant and a family one. i wasn't really feeling greasy chinese so we went with the family restuarant.

i got some crazy chicken parm with spaghetti. Pretty sure i've never seen chicken parm done this way...i didn't even taste like chicken parm but it was still good and that's all that matters. Once we got to the hotel, floyd and i jumped into our singles beds while my dad took the king size bed. When my dad snores he shakes the whole room. Uncle floyd snores too but he has some crazy breathing machine so that takes care of that. The machine isn't that loud, its like having a small fan in the room which i have one every night at home for the white noise.
