"Happier Than a Pig in a Mud Puddle"

Time to go to Reno. Finding a place to eat for breakfast was pretty easy...just picked up the little brochure thing with recommended places to eat and one of them was The Coffee Mug Restaurant "Best breakfast in Elko". So we went there

i ordered the "Sink Omlette". i guess it had everything except the kitchen sink or it was stuffed with everything from the kitchen sink? i'll never know but it did have a bunch or random stuff like sausage, ham, cheese, green peppers, onions...

After eating breakfast my dad then mentioned that he wanted to check out some log cabins back towards our hotel in the opposite direction of Reno. Seeing the cabins would also give us a chance to fill up our bikes with cheaper gas.

Below is a picture of a school house or something. Looked really old school if you ask me. It was really tiny too, smaller than my bedroom.
In this picture the building on the left is some barn with a barb wire (devil's rope) collection and the house on the right is some ancient house that belonged to some ranchers that has been fixed up in side with wood flooring, air conditioning, and all that good stuff.
So we're going to Reno and all of a sudden we turn off into the desert and we're just surrounded by dirt for miles. We were looking for ghost towns. Well i wasn't looking for ghost towns by my dad and uncle were. Of course the asphalt didn't last for long and we were on a dirt path. i was expecting something cool like you see in those western movies. But of course not, all that's left of these houses is the foundation and if you're really lucky there might be remnants of a wall or something.
Past the "ghost town" stuff we came across this crazy house that was really nice with a fence and everything. We found out later that it was built by a doctor from Reno and he has another property up the road that he stays at when his wife stays there...well that's the word on the street/road/dirt. Babo sure liked the house.
Near the Doctor's house there was this park where Mark Twain apparently had a house. The sprinklers were on and this super old guy that was 89 years old turned them off for us and talked to us for a good hour. At least it felt like an hour. Told us his whole life story and used the word "damn" a lot. He said his daughter died a year ago from an ATV accident up the hill from the park, and told us about his navy days in China, and how he was really from Kentucky but was out here with his son running away from a doctor that wanted to put him in the nursing home. He said was happy on his farm in Kentucky all by himself, "happier than a pig in a mud puddle"!
dirt road...
While looking for a second ghost town we rode for miles on dirt and my bike got filthy, i was dusty, babo was dirty, it was pretty bad but interesting ride.
i actually had to plant this tumbleweed here...and when i did the wind just happen to stop blowing keeping me from getting a an awesome video.
We finally made it to Reno where i could wear my short shorts and be a law enforcement cheeta.

For dinner, Uncle Floyd found a brew pub dinner. The beer was pretty good and i believe uncle floyd bought another glass from this place.
For dinner i had some burger melt thing.
So far the one thing that really bugs me about the this trip is the shower heads at our hotels. Its like they were installed by midgets. The water can't even hit my chin when when i'm standing up straight. i'm not even tall so i thought it was pretty ridiculous.
Finally arriving in San Francisco tomorrow!
